why learn calligraphy?

calligraphy is yoga for the soul

it's good for your soul

With the hustle and bustle that many of us endure in our daily lives, it’s a real pleasure to have some ME time. It is often said that calligraphy is like YOGA for the soul. So settle in with your pen and paper, some nice background music & a cup of tea if you're so inclined — and do your mental health some good. Guaranteed !

it's good for your brain

Calligraphy will broaden the horizons of almost anyone, at almost any age. It is accessible to both young kids and people that are quite old. All of them, without exception, benefit from better observational skills and improved hand-eye coordination. Moreover, calligraphy contributes to neuroplasticity —which basically means that, while teaching your (old) brain new tricks, you are creating new pathways in your brain and paving the way to sharper neurological skills.

Calligraphy is affordable

it's very affordable

Pen, paper and ink are not expensive commodities, so from a financial point of view, basically everyone can come aboard. In fact, mastering calligraphy can even save you money if you have an important event coming up, like a wedding or a christening or a big birthday party.

and it's beautiful

Isn’t it a wonderful thing to experience and to create beauty? Even better, isn’t it great to share those pretty things with people around us, people that matter to us? With calligraphy, you can do that!

AN INTRODUCTION TO

TRADITIONAL CALLIGRAPHY

This class uses a 3 mm nib, like the one in the kit below. You could also use a 3 mm Pilot parallel pen (it's the one with the pink cap). Of course, you are more than welcome to use your own supplies. Just make sure your nib is the proper size or the guidelines won't be suitable.

Once you have done this course, you'll be ready & yearning for more!
